Grok CLI usage,
with its context.
See the weekly credit reading recorded by the Grok CLI, with historical readings identified clearly.
A small view of the CLI’s latest reading
AIUsageWatch reads weekly credit usage from logs/unified.jsonl in the configured Grok directory. It converts that usage into remaining allowance for the menu bar. This is a local log reader, rather than a live Grok website account dashboard. The source’s recorded time affects how current the number is.
Run Grok to update the source
Select the directory containing the log in Preferences. Run Grok to fetch and record a new usage figure. Refresh now makes AIUsageWatch re-read the source, but it does not make an old CLI log become a new live balance by itself. If there is no valid recent billing reading, the app explains the source problem rather than inventing a percentage.
Historical readings stay recognisable
Old logs and expired allowance windows are marked as historical. If a fetch fails after a good reading, the app can also keep a cached number with its age and error status. Open the menu to distinguish a saved value from current allowance. These labels matter when deciding whether a new task has room to run.
Use a name and colour you recognise
Give the Grok account its own label, colour and letter, then keep it alongside configured Claude, Codex and Cursor accounts. Every bar uses the same remaining-allowance convention, while each provider keeps its own units and period. Equal percentages do not establish equal numbers of tokens or requests available.
Check the source for your workflow
This Grok support is specific to the CLI unified-log format read by the current app. It is not a general monitor for every Grok web plan or every xAI API billing account. If you need a broader set of provider billing sources, compare AIUsageWatch and CodexBar. AIUsageWatch does not calculate an invoice or increase provider credits.
Common questions
Does Refresh now fetch a new live Grok balance?
It re-reads the configured Grok log. Run Grok to update the billing reading in that log. Old logs and expired windows are labelled historical rather than treated as a live balance.
