Claude allowance,
without another tab.
Keep your weekly Claude allowance in your Mac’s menu bar, with available five-hour window details one click away.
From checking usage to seeing what remains
AIUsageWatch turns the available Claude weekly allowance into a small coloured bar. The filled portion is what remains. Open the menu to see percentages, weekly reset information and five-hour window details where the source provides them. The short window can be idle, active or exhausted even when the weekly balance has room, so check both before starting more work.
Choose the right Claude connection
The default ~/.claude account uses your Safari claude.ai session. Grant access to Safari’s cookie file in Preferences. Other Claude directories use .credentials.json, written by Claude Code when you sign in with that CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR. The app does not directly read the Keychain.
For personal and work Claude accounts, use separate configuration directories, then add each account in Preferences. Give them different labels, letters and colours. If a Safari session includes multiple organisations and the account choice is ambiguous, use a separate Claude configuration directory.
A clear identity for each account
Colour belongs to the account rather than changing with the amount used. That makes it easier to tell two Claude logins apart at a glance. With more accounts, the menu bar display adds columns rather than squeezing every account into one tall stack. This is an overview for making a choice; it does not switch your active CLI login for you.
Understand a saved reading
When a request fails, the last good reading stays visible with its age and an error explanation. A cached balance can be older than your latest Claude activity. Choose Refresh now to request a new reading and check your provider account page if the result looks wrong. The current build does not automatically send a Claude request to start a five-hour window.
Common questions
Can AIUsageWatch monitor two Claude accounts?
Yes. Configure separate Claude Code directories with their own saved credentials, and add both in Preferences. The default Claude account uses the Safari session; ambiguous multi-organisation sessions require a separate configuration directory.
Is AIUsageWatch free and available for Mac?
AIUsageWatch is a free native macOS app requiring macOS 14 or later. Its public release is in preparation. Provider plans and charges still apply.
